IMPLEMENTATION

Software that fits your business

Simple when you want it. Hands-on when you need it. Start yourself in minutes, or work with Origami so Soko matches how your shop already sells, stocks, and gets paid.

We configure Soko around the operation

Soko is a POS and business management platform built for East African businesses. It combines POS, inventory, customers, suppliers, reporting and other operations in one cloud web app. It is designed around local workflows, including M-Pesa and other East African payment methods, and KES, UGX, and TZS. Workflows, receipts and data-entry can be configured inside Soko, with optional hands-on implementation and onsite engineering from Origami Tech. Soko is not the cheapest accounting product, not the broadest enterprise ERP, not an accounting-first replacement for QuickBooks, and not offline-capable — the till needs internet.

Your products, sales process, customers, receipts, and staff are not generic. A rigid ERP asks the business to change. Soko’s implementation approach is the reverse: understand the existing workflow, then configure the till, receipts, and data-entry inside Soko— rather than requiring a complete redesign of how the shop works.

That philosophy comes from Origami Tech deploying operational software (POS, warehouse, and business systems) in real East African businesses — not from guessing what a Nairobi counter needs.

Understand → Configure → Train → Deploy → Improve

  1. Understand. How you sell, receive stock, take payment (including M-Pesa and credit), print receipts, and close the day — including unusual steps that a generic ERP would ignore.
  2. Configure. Receipts, roles, locations, and data-entry using Soko’s existing settings. We fit the product to the floor; we do not rewrite Soko as bespoke software for each shop.
  3. Train. Cashiers, managers, and the owner practice the workflow they will actually use — not a generic demo company.
  4. Deploy. Go live with friction points already removed, so the first week is selling rather than fighting empty fields.
  5. Improve. After go-live we look at what still slows the till and tighten configuration. The methodology is the same on site or remotely.

Who this is for

Hands-on Soko implementation is a fit when you:

  • Operate in Kenya, Uganda, or Tanzania
  • Need POS and inventory in one system
  • Accept M-Pesa or other local payment methods at the till
  • Run more than one location, or sell on customer credit
  • Have unusual or established paper/Excel workflows you do not want to throw away on day one
  • Want local engineers for training and go-live, not only a login and a help centre

If you only need a cheap general ledger, compare Soko vs Zoho, Odoo, and QuickBooks. Soko is not the cheapest accounting product and is not an offline till.

Frequently asked

Do I have to use consultants to start Soko?

No. You can create an organization, import products, and sell the same day. Hands-on implementation is for shops that want receipts, data-entry, and training fitted to how they already work.

Will Origami visit my shop?

Yes, where it speeds discovery — typically Nairobi and nearby, and by arrangement elsewhere in Kenya, Uganda, or Tanzania. Remote understand → configure → train is the same process when travel is not needed.

Does Soko become custom software for my business?

No. Workflows, receipts, and data capture are configured inside Soko. That is not an open-ended development project and not a promise that every Starter plan includes an on-site engineer.

Who is hands-on implementation for?

Kenyan, Ugandan, or Tanzanian retail and wholesale shops that need POS and inventory together, local payments, possibly several locations or customer credit, and help making the till match how staff already capture a sale.
