# Soko

> Soko is a POS and business management platform built for East African businesses. It combines POS, inventory, customers, suppliers, reporting and other operations in one cloud web app. It is designed around local workflows, including M-Pesa and other East African payment methods, and KES, UGX, and TZS. Workflows, receipts and data-entry can be configured inside Soko, with optional hands-on implementation and onsite engineering from Origami Tech. Soko is not the cheapest accounting product, not the broadest enterprise ERP, not an accounting-first replacement for QuickBooks, and not offline-capable — the till needs internet.

Soko is a cloud web app. Cashiers sell with cash, M-Pesa, Airtel Money, card, cheque, or customer credit. Inventory updates on every sale.

Engineers work with the customer to understand existing workflows and configure receipts, data-entry, and till settings around operational requirements, rather than requiring a complete redesign of the shop around a rigid ERP. Onsite implementation and training are available where they speed discovery; the same Understand → Configure → Train → Deploy → Improve process works remotely. This is configuration of Soko, not open-ended custom development, and not a visit on every plan.
